Which services does Alvari search for information from?
Alvari retrieves information only from the card indexes and services to which the user has access (card collections and RYL services).
Where can I find Alvari?
You can find a direct link to Alvari on My homepage, as well as under My services on the homepage.
You can also use Alvari directly from Rakennustieto’s card collections and RYL services, or by signing in directly at https://ai.rakennustieto.fi.
How to ask ChatGPT questions – a checklist
Alvari is based on the ChatGPT language model. Here is a checklist for using ChatGPT effectively.
-
Phrase your search as a clear question, not as keywords.
The more precise and detailed your question is, the more accurate the answer you will receive. -
Be specific
Clear and detailed questions often produce the best and most accurate answers. For example, the question “How does roof ventilation work?” is more ambiguous to ChatGPT than “What is the recommended distance between roof ventilation openings in the underlay of a pitched roof?” -
Use technical terms
Technical terms in your question help ChatGPT understand more precisely what you are looking for. For example, by asking “How large should the ventilation gap be in a bitumen roofing system to prevent moisture from accumulating?” you are more likely to receive a better answer than by asking “How do you ventilate a roof?” -
Define the context
The context and background information in your question help ChatGPT provide a more accurate answer. For example: “I want to avoid condensation in the loft during winter. How can I improve ventilation in a block of flats built in the 1970s with a tiled roof?” -
Stay on topic and be direct
Complex questions that cover several different topics may produce a confusing answer. Keep your question simple and focus on one topic at a time.
ChatGPT is a powerful tool for gathering information, but the quality of its answers depends on how we phrase our questions. A detailed, technical question placed in context often produces a more accurate and useful answer.
How does Alvari present sources?
When you ask Alvari a question about construction, Alvari first presents an answer generated from the card collections and RYL online services, followed by the sources used. We always recommend checking the accuracy of the text at the end of the search against the cards and sections of the RYL online service provided as sources.
Can I ask Alvari questions in different languages?
You can ask Alvari questions in different languages, in which case Alvari will also provide the answer in that language. However, please note that most of the source texts are in Finnish, so Alvari only translates the text.
I received an incorrectly generated answer from Alvari. What should I do?
If you notice that Alvari has generated an incorrect answer, you can provide feedback directly by completing the feedback form: Alvari feedback form.
The form has a dedicated section for a potentially incorrect answer provided by Alvari. Write or copy the question into the box.
