The digital book is a browser-based version of a book, which requires a licence to use. With the licence, the user is granted the right to read and use the content of the digital book. The licence may be personal, in which case the rights apply to an individual user, or organisation-specific, in which case the rights cover all users in the organisation.

How can I access the digital book?
You can access the digital book by signing in with your Rakennustieto credentials on the rakennustieto.fi website under Sign in to services.

Where can I find the digital book I purchased?
After signing in to the service, you can find all valid digital book licences in the My services menu or the list on My home page. Read more in the article My home page – navigation to services.
If you still cannot find the digital book, contact customer service.
How do I use the digital book?
The digital book opens on the home page. Some of the functions related to its use are in the sidebar on the right: table of contents, search, notes, font size, digital book shelf and versions.
Buttons (from left to right)
Table of contents: the digital book’s table of contents menu is used to move between the book’s sections. (Note: you can also move from one section to another using the arrows on either side of the text area) Search: the magnifying glass can be used to search for words (excluding the digital book file). The search also recognises inflected forms of words.
Notes: you can highlight text or add sticky notes to the digital book (excluding the digital book file).
Font size: you can increase or decrease the font size (excluding the digital book file).
Digital book shelf: the My shelf contains the digital books for which the user has a licence, while the All shelf contains all digital books sold by Rakennustieto.
Versions: the versions published of the digital book in question (version name and publication date). You can switch from one digital book version to another by clicking the version name.
To open the digital book (PDF), click the desired heading in reading mode, and the digital book will open in the browser on the relevant page.
Navigating a digital book file in PDF format (browser)
Applies only to the following digital books: Construction Component Costs, Renovation Construction Costs and Illustrated Construction Dictionary
In the browser, you can move from one page to another using, for example, the digital book’s linked table of contents or page reference links in the digital book.
External links can be used to go directly to the relevant websites or to the RT card index and Ratu (RT/Ratu links require a valid subscription to the relevant services).
You can use the browser’s own search functions in the browser (e.g. Ctrl + F = find).
Can the digital book be read offline?
The digital book cannot be read offline because the book cannot be downloaded. Use requires an internet connection, as books can only be read directly through the service.
Can the digital book be read on a phone?
Yes, the digital book is also optimised for reading on a phone. This means that the book’s user interface and content automatically adapt to different screen sizes, providing a pleasant reading experience even on smaller screens. You can easily browse, search and read the content on your phone wherever and whenever you want.
What happens to the old version when a new version of the digital book is published?
When a new version of the digital book is published, the old version remains available for use and reading among the digital book versions. The versions can be found under Versions in the navigation bar.
How do I cancel the right to use and read the digital book?
The digital book is licence-based and can be cancelled by completing the cancellation form on the website.

According to our contractual terms, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current contract period, provided that the contract has been cancelled at least thirty (30) days before the start of the new contract period.
Is the digital book available after the licence expires?
The digital book is a licence-based service, and the right to use it is valid for the duration of the licence. When the digital book licence expires or is cancelled, the right to read and use the digital book also ends. The digital book does not remain permanently available for personal use; it is available only during the validity of an active subscription.
